Still to come

Tournament lineup announced in January

Game Grove is still setting the rest of the bracket lineup. When a title is confirmed it appears here with its format, start time, entry requirements, capacity, and bracket link. Every title played is a legitimately obtained copy.

Worth explaining

What Hextraction is

Hextraction is a tabletop game played on a vertical board made of hexagonal tiles. You drop a ball in at the top and it falls through whatever tiles are in place, and each tile does something different: it spins, it splits the path, it swallows the ball, it sends it sideways. The board is different every game because the tiles are swapped in and out.

The tiles are 3D printed, and anybody can design one. That is the interesting part. The tiles on our board were printed by students and by people in the community, so the board at EagleCon is not a board you can buy anywhere.

Hextraction was created by Zack Freedman, who released the project so anyone can print and design tiles for it. Credit where it is due, and the original project is worth reading even if you never play.

Rules and conduct

  • Check in at the bracket table before your listed check in time. Seats given up by no shows go to the standby list.
  • The printed ruleset at the table is the one that counts. Ask the tournament organizer before a match, not during it.
  • Play the match in front of you. Coaching from the side is fine between games, not during them.
  • Treat opponents, spectators, and student staff decently. The tournament organizer can remove anyone from a bracket for harassment, and campus policy applies in the room.
  • All titles played are legitimately obtained copies, provided by the department. Personal copies are not used in brackets.
  • Recording your own matches is fine. Streaming from inside the venue needs a word with the organizers first.
