Parking

Visitor parking is free on Saturdays in the lots off MacCorkle Ave. Use the lot nearest the Geary Student Union and enter through the main doors. [CONFIRM: lot name and whether a visitor pass is required on event Saturdays.]

Accessibility

The ballroom is step free from the MacCorkle Ave entrance, with accessible restrooms on the same floor. Spectator seating includes spaces without a step up, and the stage program has reserved seating at the front for anyone who needs to be close to the screen. Sound levels during the stage program are loud, and there is a quieter area at the tabletop end of the room.

If you need an accommodation, email info@uceaglecon.com and someone will answer before the event. [CONFIRM: assistive listening availability and accessible parking space count.]

Food and drink

[CONFIRM: whether campus dining is open on the day.] Water is available in the room. Food and drink are not allowed at the tabletop tables, because the games are borrowed.

What to bring

  • Nothing, if you are here to watch.
  • Your own controller if you are entering a bracket and prefer it. Loaner controllers are available.
  • Cash or a card for vendor tables. Some vendors take cards, some do not.
  • A phone. The schedule page is built to be reloaded on venue wifi.

Questions people actually ask

Is it really free

Yes. General admission is free and open to the public. There is no ticket and no registration for getting in. Bracket entry is the only thing that requires signing up.

Can I bring my twelve year old

Yes, and plenty of people do. Everything in the room is suitable for a general audience, and the tabletop tables are the easiest place to start. Children stay with a parent or guardian. There is no minimum age.

Do we have to play anything

No. Watching is a normal way to attend. The stage program is built to be watched, and the bracket finals draw a crowd. You can sit down and follow a match without ever holding a controller.

How long should we stay

An hour is enough to see the room, play something, and watch a match. If you want the stage program and the awards, plan to be there from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Is it loud

The room is busy all day and the stage program at 3:00 PM is loud. The tabletop end of the ballroom stays quieter. If sound is a concern, ear protection is a reasonable thing to bring.

Where do we go when we get there

Come in the MacCorkle Ave entrance and follow the signs to the ballroom. There is a check in table just inside the door, staffed by the UC Gaming Club, and that is the place to ask anything.

Can we take photos

Yes. The event is photographed as well, and photos may be used to promote future editions. Tell the check in table if you would rather not appear in them.
