Games are better with an audience

UC EagleCon is a one day gaming convention in the GSU Ballroom at the University of Charleston. Brackets running all afternoon, a live Clone Hero concert, tabletop tables, and hardware the department built. Saturday, April 3, 2027, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Battle of the Bands

Clone Hero is a music game played on a guitar shaped controller. At EagleCon it is performed as a concert. Bands take the stage, the song plays on the big screen, and the room watches. Judges score it, and so does the crowd.

Three awards: People's Choice, Judges' Choice, and Most Percent Completed. You do not need to know the game to enjoy it, and you do not need to play to attend.

Play on hardware we made

The FUSER station runs on a DJ controller built here on a Raspberry Pi Pico 2. It reports itself to the computer as a standard USB game controller, so the game sees a normal input device and you see knobs and pads that a student soldered.

Walk up, play a set, and ask the person standing next to it how it works. Nobody minds the question.
