What Clone Hero is, plainly
Clone Hero is a music game. You hold a plastic guitar with five colored buttons and a strum bar, notes scroll down the screen, and you hit them in time with the song. It is the game people mean when they say they used to play Guitar Hero.
At most events it is played as a score attack: one person, one number, done. EagleCon runs it as a concert instead. A band takes the stage with the song on the big screen behind them, they play it in front of the room, and the room reacts. The score still matters, but so does the performance.
You do not need to know the songs, the game, or anything about music games to enjoy watching this. It is a room full of people watching somebody try something difficult, on purpose, with an audience.
All titles used on stage are legitimately obtained copies, and the songs performed come from charts the organizers have cleared for public performance. [CONFIRM: song list clearance process with the department.]

Three ways to win
Two of the three are decided by people, not by the game. That is deliberate, and it means a band that misses notes can still take the room.
People's Choice
Everyone in the audience gets one vote at the end of the program. If you came only to watch, you still have a say in who wins.
Judges' Choice
A panel scores accuracy, song choice, and how the set played to the room. [CONFIRM: judging panel and scoring sheet.]
Most Percent Completed
The highest completion percentage of the day, straight off the screen. The one award nobody can argue about.
How to get on stage
- Sign up as a solo player or as a band of up to four. Registration is free.
- Pick two songs from the cleared song list and name a backup. The organizers confirm your slot by email.
- Show up by 2:15 PM for sound check. Spectator rows open at 2:30 PM and people will watch you check.

Controllers are provided, and you are welcome to bring your own if it works over USB. No experience on stage is expected. Several bands each year are people who signed up that morning.

How to attend as audience
Walk in. There is no ticket, no seat assignment, and no cost. Spectator rows open at 1:30 PM for sound check and the program starts at 2:00 PM. Sit anywhere. Front rows are reserved for anyone who needs to be close to the screen.
Voting for People's Choice happens at the end of the program, and you need to be in the room to vote. Awards follow at 4:45 PM, after the last bracket.
One more act may be added to the stage program. If it is confirmed it appears here and in the schedule with its own start time. [CONFIRM: second act.]
